Mohammed bin Rashid to honor winners of Government Excellence Award

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will honor tomorrow the winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award in a ceremony organized by the Sheikh Khalifa Program for Governmental Excellence, at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Award is considered the highest prize for excellence in governmental performance in the UAE. It aims to promote the role of institutions in the federal government to serve the society, increase awareness about its important role in modern governments, and capacity building in order to promote excellence in all state institutions.

The award consists of five different categories with 22 prizes, all awarded for the diverse nature of work of the federal authorities.

In all, 28 government institutions are competing for the awards in its fourth session. Of the 22 prizes, 10 are allocated to federal state institutions, while there are 12 individual prizes.

The award, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, aims to improve the performance of the various government institutions as per the set creative standards with an emphasis on the achieved results.

The governmental excellence system has various characteristics that makes it unique. It mainly focusses on results, and encourages institutions to forecast the future while learning to cope with the latest developments.

The system was adopted as the basis for assessing government institutions competing for the award to determine the level of maturity reached by them in their journey towards leadership and to identify the areas and opportunities for improvement to help them achieve their goals.
