In the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, celebrated DEWA’s Innovation Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, by showing a 3-minute video about the centre on the Burj’s façade. Several DEWA officials witnessed the show.

Starting 15 February 2021, the public can visit the Innovation Centre after registering and booking visiting times in advance on the centre’s website www.mbrsic.ae

A Global Platform for Innovation

The Innovation Centre, a global platform for renewable and clean energy innovation. It provides a unique experience for families to discover the future of clean and renewable energy in a fun-filled and knowledge-rich environment, and enjoy a panoramic view of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world. The centre is open for visitors from Sunday to Thursday from 8:30 am until 2:30 pm. All precautionary measures are implemented to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.

Unforgettable Experience

The four-storey building covers 4,355 square metres and is 88 metres high. It offers an opportunity for visitors to explore the latest innovations in clean energy technologies. The exhibition area on the first floor of the centre focuses on DEWA’s history, key inventions and innovations in electricity, and the latest developments in renewable and sustainable energy. The area includes over 30 interactive exhibits designed to introduce visitors to developments in renewable energy. The site also houses the DEWA Museum, water desalination plants, and a visual space that explains the properties of light and solar radiation. The centre also features an exhibition on key components of photovoltaic solar power and related technologies including Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and the Solar Power Tower. It also showcases DEWA’s renewable energy journey, Digital DEWA, solar cell applications in spacecraft and satellites, electric vehicles, wind turbines, and the development of DEWA’s sustainable buildings.

Strengthening Emirati Capabilities

Through the Innovation Centre, DEWA aims to support innovation and creativity in clean and renewable energy and raise awareness on sustainability. It also strengthens Emirati capabilities and enhances business competitiveness in this promising sector. The Innovation Centre’s research in solar energy supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to diversify Dubai’s energy mix and provide 75% of Dubai’s total power capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
