Mohammed bin Rashid receives President of Inter Parliamentary Union

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received President of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) HE Duarte Pacheco.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid discussed with his guest a number of regional and international parliamentary issues and the role of national parliaments and councils in bridging the distances between nations, as well as promoting dialogue and the culture of tolerance and openness between religions and cultures.

The Deputy Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) HE Saqr Ghobash attended the meeting.

HE Duarte Pacheco thanked the UAE for the support he received during his candidacy for the post of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which includes some 76 member states.

Pacheco praised the outstanding efforts exerted by the UAE in combatting the Covid-19 epidemic and its keenness to provide vaccines to its people and all residents free of charge, as well as its assistance to many countries in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future HE Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Director General of HH The Dubai Ruler's Court HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, HE Dr. Abdullah Rashid Al Nuaimi, HE Marwan Al Muhairi, Members of the Federal National Council, and Director General of Dubai's Protocol Department HE Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman.
