Nakheel launches environmental awareness campaign for communities across Dubai

Nakheel is embarking on a new environmental awareness campaign at its master developments across Dubai, starting with community clean ups at Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Village Circle this weekend (Friday, 12 March).

Nakheel Community Management has teamed up with Dubai-based neighbourhood social network Hayi and environmental management company Bee’ah for the initiative, which complements Nakheel’s regular waste management programme and forms part of the company’s ongoing calendar of community events.

Residents are invited to join teams from Nakheel, Hayi and Bee’ah to help collect waste from outdoor common areas at Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Village Triangle. Bags and gloves will be provided, with strict health and safety measures in place.

Francis Giani, Chief Community Management Officer at Nakheel, said: “Our clean up drive is part of our commitment to bringing residents together for environmental, educational and interactive initiatives at our communities across Dubai. It will be a great way to meet the neighbours and will hopefully raise awareness of the importance of proper disposal of household waste and the opportunities for recycling.”

In the UAE, each person produces an average of 2.4 kg of trash, much of which can be recycled, per day. Items collected during the clean ups will be recycled where possible.

For registration and more information, download the Hayi app. Numbers are limited in line with health and safety regulations.
