Hamdan bin Mohammed and Maktoum bin Mohammed attend Kuwait Prime Minister’s address at World Government Summit 2022

- Future governments to be modeled on digital transformation, says Kuwait’s Prime Minister at WGS 2022

· Prime Minister says digital technology transforming government of third millennium
· Digital transformation is underpinning Kuwait’s “Vision 2035” initiative
· His Highness reinforces commitment to replace fossil fuels and deliver low carbon future


Future governments will be transformed and driven by the impact of technology and digital transformation, Kuwait Prime Minster His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait, told the World Government Summit (2022) in Dubai.

Attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council; His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and an array of government leaders, officials and experts.

HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah, in his keynote address to the gathering of international leaders, expressed his pride at the strides that Kuwait has already taken and how technology and digital implementation are at the core of the country’s 2035 Vision.

His Highness said: "By enabling the smarter use of technology and digital solutions we are able to tackle many of the challenges of today from climate change to renewable energy implementation and tackling healthcare and other issues that the society of today is facing.

“And installing a new knowledge economy that is digitally powered will enable smarter government models that will ensure the digital transformation is applied to benefit our citizens and ensure improved livelihoods and futures as a result.

“Kuwait has played a great role in drawing a road map to make everything based on digital transformation and this is a clear expression of the continuing intellectual development of the state.”

The Prime Minister also explained the role that digital technology will play in helping Kuwait to commit to the Paris Accord and the global journey to net zero carbon emissions.

He said: “Our efforts plan to diversify energy by adopting renewable energy strategies that will for example aim to replacing fossil fuels by a transformation to liquid gas that will in turn help to guarantee energy for future generations and is built on our low carbon 2050 strategy.”

This will be based on the principles of a circular economy and understanding Kuwait’s global commitments and will be supported an increased emphasis on education for citizens to help them both embrace and benefit from the ongoing transition to a knowledge-based society and economy.

His Highness further added: “Today it is important that we continue to push governments towards creating ideas and putting in place pre-emptive plans that will shape the directions and requirements of the 21st century and ensure that knowledge, creativity and technology underpin global partnerships that can assist developing societies to achieve prosperity and stability around the world.”
