10th Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Award Boosts Dubai’s Global Reach

- 10th Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award Reinforces Dubai’s Global Leadership with Record Participation and Growing International Impact

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award, part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and organised by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL), has closed submissions for its tenth edition, marking a milestone that reflects the expanding global reach of Arabic and Dubai’s role as a hub for cultural and knowledge-driven initiatives.

This edition recorded 2,683 submissions, including 677 completed projects, highlighting a clear rise in innovation across language-related fields and the increasing relevance of Arabic within today’s knowledge economy and digital landscape. A total of 3,664 participants registered, including 3,320 individuals, 164 teams, and 180 institutions. This broad mix reinforces the Award’s position as a global platform that brings together talent from across sectors and geographies, while enabling meaningful collaboration.

Submissions were received from 52 countries, including six participating for the first time, reflecting growing international engagement and the role of Arabic in facilitating cultural exchange and knowledge sharing.

An analysis of submissions shows that education remains the leading category, underlining its central role in preserving and advancing the Arabic language. This is followed by culture, thought, and knowledge society, and then technology and artificial intelligence applications, which continues to see rapid growth in line with future trends. Media and communication, as well as language policy, planning, and Arabisation, also featured strongly, reflecting a cohesive, cross-sector approach to supporting the Arabic language and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

H.E. Bilal Al Budoor, Secretary-General of the Award, said: “The exceptional results of this tenth edition reflect the Award’s continued growth and institutional maturity, as well as the increasing global interest in Arabic as a dynamic language that continues to evolve with the needs of our time. These indicators also highlight the role of Dubai and the UAE in advancing international efforts to strengthen the presence of Arabic across key areas of development.”

He added that the Award continues to play a strategic role in positioning Arabic as a language of science, knowledge, and innovation by supporting high-quality projects and encouraging forward-looking initiatives that contribute to the development of Arabic language education and the integration of modern technologies in its promotion.

The Award allocates approximately AED 2.8 million to honour winners across its various categories, as part of a broader vision to encourage excellence and foster innovation in serving the Arabic language.

Launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Award forms part of a wider set of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the global standing of Arabic, supporting its wider use, and advancing methods of teaching and learning in line with the evolving digital and knowledge economy.

Since its inception, the Award has established itself as a leading global platform celebrating impactful contributions to the Arabic language. It continues to support the development of an integrated ecosystem that promotes linguistic innovation and strengthens the presence of Arabic across science, technology, and culture, contributing to sustainable development and reinforcing cultural identity both regionally and globally.
