Dubai Police Wins Global First Place for Most Innovative Project in the Public Sector 2025

Dubai Police has won first place globally in the Most Innovative Project in the Public Sector 2025 award, presented by the GIMI Institute, in recognition of its pioneering Drone Box project.

The achievement reflects Dubai Police’s leadership in public sector innovation and its role in delivering community focused solutions that support sustainable economic development.

The international recognition highlights the impact of the Drone Box project in setting new benchmarks for smart security services and future ready policing models.

The award honours projects that drive meaningful change through creativity, scalability, and measurable results in public service innovation.

Major Mohammad Omar, Director of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Centre (UASC) at the General Department of Operations, said the global recognition confirms Dubai Police’s strong commitment to adopting proactive solutions that keep pace with rapid technological transformation and contribute to sustainable security. He noted that innovation within Dubai Police has evolved from a conceptual approach into an embedded institutional practice, supported by national talent equipped with advanced technical capabilities. He added that the award represents more than recognition of a single project, as it sends a clear message that government entities can compete globally when innovation and creativity are placed at the core of their operations.

Major Mohammad Omar also stressed that the project is implemented in line with the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, ensuring the continuous development of security systems, strengthening operational readiness, and leveraging advanced technologies in support of Dubai Police’s strategic vision to enhance safety and security across the emirate.

The Drone Box system, developed by the General Department of Operations, is an advanced smart platform that enables the automated deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles from strategically distributed stations across Dubai.

The system significantly reduces response times to traffic and criminal incidents to just a few minutes by transmitting live video feeds directly to the Command and Control Centre, without the need for direct human intervention.

As part of Dubai’s broader vision to be among the world’s safest cities, the system is utilised in traffic monitoring, emergency response, rescue operations, and crisis management.

The platform is distinguished by its rapid response capability, autonomous drone operations, beyond visual line of sight live streaming, advanced sensor technologies, and its effective support to security and traffic patrols in the field.

This global achievement further reinforces Dubai Police’s position as an international benchmark in smart policing and innovative government services, driven by technology, efficiency, and positive community impact.
