The Dubai Press Club today hosted a session titled ‘Your Digital Identity… Your National Responsibility’, which brought together Emirati influencers, content creators, media professionals, and digital voices to examine the growing impact of online engagement on the UAE’s national image.
The session, led by Emirati journalist and writer Mohamed Al Hammadi, focused on the importance of responsible, informed, and values-driven communication in digital spaces and how individuals with a significant online presence represent the country.
Discussions at the session examined how online interactions shape public perception of the UAE, and how social media users can reflect national identity through their conduct and content. The session highlighted the risks linked to misinformation and ways to identify and counter such narratives.
The session highlighted a range of negative practices across certain digital accounts and platforms, particularly those involving the distortion and manipulation of facts. It called for greater awareness, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility in online discussions.
The session also underscored the importance of strengthening the Emirati narrative in digital spaces and encouraged content creators to take an active role in defending the UAE’s reputation and values. Al Hammadi said Emirati digital creators are digital ambassadors whose content and interactions help project an accurate and positive image of the nation.
The discussion forms part of a series of sessions organised by Dubai Press Club to support responsible, impactful digital communication and empower Emirati voices to contribute meaningfully to the UAE’s media and content ecosystem.
