As global trade and logistics continue to evolve rapidly, Dubai Customs is advancing its innovation strategy through “Shahin”, a fully integrated smart digital system designed to strengthen economic security, safeguard trade continuity, and accelerate cargo movement. The initiative enhances supply chain resilience and reinforces Dubai’s position as a leading global trade and logistics hub.
Shahin is an end-to-end truck and cargo tracking system operating across Dubai’s customs entry points using advanced satellite-based technologies. It enables real-time monitoring of shipments from entry to final destination, ensuring high levels of visibility, transparency, and operational efficiency across the entire supply chain.
Smart Seals and Real-Time Monitoring Strengthen Economic Security
The system relies on the use of an electronic smart seal applied to trucks after customs inspection and clearance procedures. This allows authorities to track shipments through virtual customs corridors in real time, while receiving instant alerts in case of route deviations or unusual movements.
This mechanism significantly enhances supply chain security, strengthens protection of the economy and society, and ensures the smooth and reliable flow of goods.
Advanced Digital Ecosystem Reduces Delays and Enhances Efficiency
Shahin is supported by a broader suite of digital solutions, including pre-clearance procedures, real-time shipment tracking, and reduced reliance on paper-based transactions. Together, these measures have contributed to faster customs procedures, reduced waiting times, and improved operational efficiency.
Integration with Green Corridor Ensures Uninterrupted Trade Flow
The importance of Shahin is further reinforced through its integration with the Green Corridor initiative, launched by Dubai Customs to facilitate cargo movement and accelerate clearance processes amid geopolitical shifts and disruptions affecting traditional supply chains across the region.
The combined system has helped ensure uninterrupted movement of essential goods, reduced delays, and strengthened continuity across critical sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, retail, and industry—supporting overall market stability and boosting business confidence in Dubai’s readiness to sustain trade flows under all conditions.
Leadership: “A Smart System Safeguarding Trade Continuity”
Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director of the Customs Inspection Division at Dubai Customs, said Shahin represents a qualitative shift in customs inspection and cargo management.
“We are not just tracking shipments through Shahin—we are building a smart system that ensures trade continuity and protects supply chain flow,” he said.
He added that the platform enables real-time monitoring, reduces waiting times, and accelerates transit procedures while maintaining the highest levels of customs control and security.
Al Ghaffari emphasized that the integration of Shahin with the Green Corridor has strengthened Dubai Customs’ ability to safeguard the flow of essential goods and support market stability.
“Every hour saved in cargo movement means greater business continuity and stronger confidence in Dubai’s readiness,” he said.
He concluded: “In Dubai, responsiveness has become part of the government model. Shahin demonstrates how smart technologies can simultaneously protect society and enable seamless trade.”
Enhanced Compliance and Rapid Response to Violations
Sara Al Suwaidi, Supply Chain Security Advisor at Dubai Customs’ Inspection Division, said the system enables authorities to detect violations or irregularities during truck movements and respond immediately to suspicious activity or route deviations.
She added that this strengthens customs enforcement, enhances community protection, and further improves operational speed and efficiency.
