WGEO signs two MoUs with Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the Arab Towns Organization

In a step aimed at accelerating the transition to green economy and enhancing sustainability, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) during the activities of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) 2026. The two MoUs covered enhancing cooperation with Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) and the Arab Towns Organization (ATO).

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer and HE Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim AlDhaheri, Deputy Director General of Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, signed a MoU aimed at establishing a practical framework for cooperation in the fields of green economy, sustainability, and future readiness.

Under the MoU, the two parties will develop and deliver specialized executive and professional training programs, workshops, and short courses for representatives of the public and private sectors. Areas of cooperation also include promoting applied research, policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and organizing conferences, roundtables, and joint innovation initiatives.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer affirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding embodies the shared keenness to enhance cooperation in the fields of green economy, sustainability and future readiness with a leading diplomatic academy.

HE noted that the partnership aims to build an integrated cooperation framework that includes executive training and professional development programmes, workshops and short courses, strengthening research and policy dialogue and knowledge exchange in the areas of sustainability and the transition to a green economy, in addition to organising conferences and roundtables, launching joint innovation initiatives and exchanging best practices, and enabling the Academy to join the membership of the WGEO's platforms and participate in its relevant programmes and activities.

HE Al Tayer added that this partnership enhances the training and knowledge network of WGEO and consolidates the integration of diplomatic expertise with specialised knowledge in the green economy, thereby supporting joint efforts to prepare qualified cadres for the future.

HE Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, said: “The transition to a green economy is a key priority that calls for stronger international cooperation and closer alignment between environmental ambitions and economic development. In this context, we welcome the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding with the World Green Economy Organization, which will create opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration in research, training and joint initiatives. Through this partnership, we aim to deepen future diplomats’ understanding of the green economy and strengthen their capacity to engage in international dialogue and contribute to partnerships that advance sustainable development.”

The MoU — which has a duration of three years and is automatically renewable — allows the Academy to join the membership of WGEO platforms and participate in its programs and activities. This partnership is expected to strengthen WGEO’s training and knowledge network through cooperation with a leading diplomatic academy, thereby contributing to thought leadership at the regional and international levels.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer and HE Badr Wael Badr Al-Ojail Al-Askar, Secretary-General of the Arab Towns Organization, signed a MoU aimed at establishing a general framework for cooperation in the areas of sustainable urban development, green economy, and addressing climate change challenges.

The MoU focuses on enhancing cooperation in capacity building, exchange of knowledge and best practices, and organizing joint workshops, seminars, and conferences, in addition to supporting Arab cities in adopting green economy and carbon-neutral solutions. This step comes within WGEO’s keenness to expand effective international partnerships, based on the perspective that cities are the main driver of the transition to green economy.

Through this partnership with the Arab Towns Organization — which has more than 650 Arab cities and municipalities as members — WGEO will work to enable these cities to adopt sustainability and carbon-neutral solutions and to develop high-quality projects in the areas of climate change, biodiversity, smart cities, and energy efficiency, in a way that supports the achievement of the goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

Areas of cooperation include facilitating the accession of the Arab Towns Organization as a non-founding member of WGEO and facilitating the participation of member cities in the “Global Green Economy Alliance” through WGEO’s “Cities Platform.”

These partnerships affirm WGEO’s leading role in linking finance with sustainable solutions, building capacities, and enhancing international and regional partnerships during the World Green Economy Summit.
