MAK Holding pledged 50,000 meals for the World’s Tallest Donation Box, lighting up 50,000 pixels on Burj Khalifa in support for Covid-19-hit communities.
MAK Holding’s Dh500,000 million donation contributes to illuminating Burj Khalifa’s 1.2 million lights to secure 1.2 million meals and food parcels for the ’10 million meals’ campaign that supports individuals and families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic during Ramadan.
Launched on Saturday, the World’s Tallest Donation Box enables companies, entities and the public to purchase lights of Burj Khalifa, for as little as Dh10 each. For every light purchased for Dh10 through the website www.tallestdonationbox.com, one meal is provided to someone in need.
In a statement, MAK Holding spokesperson said, “We are proud to support the humanitarian initiative’s noble goals and global mission of inspiring solidarity. The UAE’s secures a nurturing environment for businesses, which, in return, must fulfill corporate social responsibility, especially at this critical time.”
Under the supervision of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the Social Solidarity Fund Against Covid-19, meals and food parcels are delivered in a logistical distribution network developed in collaboration with partnering entities to reach beneficiaries across the country.
Ways to get involved
Companies and individuals can buy Burj Khalifa’s lights, for as little as Dh10 each, on the website www.tallestdonationbox.com to provide meals for the vulnerable amid the pandemic.
Donors can also provide meals through the ’10 million meals’ campaign by contributing on the website www.10millionmeals.ae or via SMS (Etisalat and Du) to numbers listed on the website. Donors can make a transfer to ’10 million meals’ campaign bank account at Dubai Islamic Bank with IBAN no.:AE430240001580857000001.
Donors also have the chance to provide packaged or canned food supplies or arrange food parcels for distribution through directly contacting the campaign’s organizing team on the toll-free number 8004006.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of the ’10 million meals’ campaign earlier in April to provide food support to families and individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic that left many facing unemployment and income reductions.
The campaign is led by his wife Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank.
