DHA shares experience in smart inventory management with Dubai Airports delegation

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) received a delegation from Dubai Airports on Wednesday to exchange experiences in the field of smart inventory management system.

The delegation visited the authority to view their ongoing smart updates and developments in the supply chain and inventory management processes, which are being implemented in cooperation with Smart Dubai.

The visit is in line with the framework of cooperation that promote the exchange of experiences between various governmental bodies.

Mr Ghanim Lootah, Director of Asset Management at the DHA stressed the importance of inventory management and its direct impact on the services provided by the DHA to patients to guarantee their health and safety especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also stressed the importance of exchanging successful experiences in crisis management between government entities to find solutions to ongoing challenges.

Lootah added that the DHA, which manages all public hospitals, primary healthcare centres, specialized centres and medical fitness centres in Dubai was the ideal organisation to implement this smart inventory system—in corporation with Smart Dubai—as it helps manage the supply process efficiently and effectively and ensures that it is provided when needed, especially since the DHA has become one of the main suppliers of PPE items in Dubai for all government and private entities during the pandemic.

Mr. Khaled Omar Al Amoodi, Head of Inventory Management Section at the DHA expressed his keenness to share experiences and lessons learned during the ongoing development stages of the smart inventory management system with Dubai Airports as this will ultimately serve the people of Dubai.

During the meeting, Al Amoodi also shared his section’s expertise in developing and applying the best international standards in establishing and managing warehouse infrastructures and equipping them with security and safety measures. He said that this was achieved thanks to the continuous support of DHA higher management.

Mr Khaled Sultan, Smart Inventory Transformation Project Manager at the DHA, presented the latest updates implemented so far in inventory management which included: building a mechanism to identify and track the supplies, starting from the manufacturer until it reaches the end user, implementing a system for managing inventory transactions using portable smart devices, in cooperation with Smart Dubai.

He added that the DHA is currently working on building an interactive dashboard to monitor and track the movement of supplies within the stores and display the inventory health for the decision makers based on their specialization and requirements.

He also showcased the improvement of wireless coverage networks in warehouses and integration and programming smart devices in cooperation with the IT Department at the DHA.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the work mechanisms adopted by each organization and shared experiences on the best practices in the field. They also discussed future cooperation opportunities.
